Every year on 21st May Saints around the world celebrate our island’s discovery.
St. Helena’s Day is a Public Holiday on the island, and then is normally an island wide celebration organised by a local group along with the crowning of a new Miss St Helena. Celebrations over the past few years have involved a formal parade from the Canister, proceeding down Main Street to the Seaside with Scounts, Police, etc marching accompaning the Scouts’ band.
Other activites include fancy dress, novelty sports, stalls, a Floats Parade (with much music and dancing included) from the Hospital, and live bands.
Below is a video of celebrations from 2014.
